History
Duncan Guybrush was the second son of a large family including older brother Bailey Guybrush, sister Serenity Guybrush, and younger brothers Piper and Kyler Guybrush. He spend much time in his youth plodding and splashing about in the swamps about the Folly, and became fascinated and intrigued with the animals of the swamps and in other areas, learning of their ways, their manners, and how to track them and hunt them. This, he went about with nearly as much passion as he took to learning his magical studies as a youth. As Duncan grew older, he became almost in some respect an antithesis of what others expect a magi to be, for he was neither too secretive or removed from things. He enjoyed the simple things in life, a good story, a good drink, a good woman, as much as other mages would enjoy hoarding their vast vaults of knowledge and lore they believed themselves only to carry. And yet, in Duncan was a strength of perservance and ambition, a passionate man of life and magic, who understood the complexities of both and somehow found, or so it seemed, a balance between the remote life that so many mages live, and the passion that others akin to the Isle of Green Fields live with. For this, he was much loved by his people, for he was not only approachable, but he spoke with a practicality undertoned with common sense and wisdom that all could understand and appreciate. Upon his 38th year, his elder brother was promoted to Baron Regent of Dragon Lake by Duke Raziel Devonshire. Thusly was Duncan Guybrush made the Lord of the Folly. This seat however did not remain long with him, as not even a year had passed before it was announced that Duncan Guybrush, along with his elder brother Bailey, had been murdered and eviscerated and set upon display by the Cultists. It would be two more long years before Duncan would reveal himself to the world, proving he was not dead. In fact, the bodies had been so grotesquely distorted that it was impossible to tell what the faces had looked like, or so the Magistrate had said. But, as Duncan began to tell his story, it seemed that he was supposed to have been with his brother that evening, but a hunt had called him away to ensure the safety of his people of a ravenous beast attacking some of the villages of the Folly and so he had sent a trusted messenger and it was he, not Duncan, who had been slain. The Duke had known this, and had commanded Duncan, much to his ire, to remain in the shadows and quiet so that he could be used as a surprise weapon against the Cultists as the time came. According to Duncan, the time never came. And with the Duke now departing, Duncan has chosen to make himself known again, aiming to help the people of the Folly, and the people of Mists. In what way, however, remains to be determined.
