History
The eldest legitimate child of Baron Trahearn Conway and his first wife, Lady Mary March, Eadric had a difficult childhood for a number of reasons, beginning with the execution of his mother for treason when he was three. The stigma of that nefarious death never quite left him, and while other siblings and half-siblings - of which there were many - embraced their heritage, Eadric grew quiet, avoiding the limelight, for his nature was much like that of his mother: studious and scholarly. Although he learned arms and military matters as would be expected of a nobleman in position to inherit, he preferred academics, particularly mathematics, and working with his hands (but not warfare, to his father's dismay). By the time he was in his late teens, he was firmly established as a journeyman stonemason and budding architect.
He was yet to be named his father's heir.
As the Conway family burgeoned and spread, adding members by the legion, Eadric kept his head down and his focus on his work, finding satisfaction in designing and then overseeing construction of a number of structures across Guardian, eventually moving to Gateway to further his studies and expand his horizons. There he met a gentle young woman of Mists, Lydia James, and fell in love; within six months, they were wed. With new wife and new career, away from the stern reach of his father and whatever woman was currently baroness, Eadric began to enjoy life.
Alas that such pleasures were to be short-lived, for Lydia perished scant months after the wedding, drowning during a visit to Guardians. He did not want to remarry and, per rumors, spent the next several years wondering whether his bride was murdered, as undesired wives in Trebachas tended to meet with unpleasant fates and Eadric's father reportedly did not approve of his eldest son marrying a Mists mage.
In the years since, Eadric has become a prominent architect in Gateway and often enjoys applying his talents to stonecarving and sculpting as well: the bust of Lydia in his Gateway apartments is by his own hand. He spends much time in Guardian, usually in Trebachas, seeing to baronial fiscal matters (for his figures are more deftly realized than those of the exchequer) and visiting his family. The sole surviving child of Lady Mary - his sister Hannah died years before - he focuses his Conway relationships on his grandmother and the children of the baron's second wife Caroline, who was something of a mother to him in his youth.
In 504, he was named duke of Guardian after a rebellion and the death of Asha Barca, and as a consequence married Asha's cousin Arianell to join the Conway and Barca lines. The marriage to a woman half his age did not appear to settle well, and neither did a lofty rank sit easily with a quiet, studious man, but he has in the months since appeared to grow comfortable with the title of Duke and likewise at ease, even perhaps in love, with his bride.
In December 505, Eadric was succeeded by Aaric Barca.
