Meliana Joy Paggion

With being so young, Meliana hasn't had a chance to do much, good or bad. She was a year old when her mother died and six when her father died. She has fond memories of her father, who was known to sneak her cookies when no one was looking. Enough cookies, in fact, to thoroughly ruin her dinner. Perhaps that is where she got her ferocious love of sweets.

She enjoys hiding, being off alone in the woods, climbing trees, riding horses, getting dirty, and all manner of other tomboyish things.

However, she is getting to the age where she is starting to mimic her sisters. When she sees them sitting up properly for dinner, she does the same. She sips her soup the way they do, and she holds her up like them. This only manages to last, however, for about four minutes. Then, with all that sugar in her system, she's rip-raring and ready to go somewhere else!

Unfortunately for her nannies and tutors, young Meliana is a tenacious tomboy. She is known to 'disappear' just before lessons. She is the hide-and-seek champion of the household. Known for being fearless, she has no problem scurrying up that tallest tree or jumping from limb to limb like a little monkey. Dirt? That is not a bad word in her vocabulary. It all washes off. However, she is also a little peacemaker. For every frog that ends up in her nanny's bed, there is always a sweet little bunch of flowers, or a piece of candy left behind the next day to make up for it. She dislikes seeing people argue or hearing voices raised in anger.

She has come to Gateway with her sisters and continues her lessons with her tutor. Her lessons include such things as literature, history, geography (the worst class /ever/, just ask her!), ethics, basic math, etiquette (yuck), needlework (doubleyuck), and the sciences such as biology and astronomy. Additionally, being a daughter of Amphorae, she has learned basic healing skills and is well versed in the herb lore of her home island.

Immediate Family

  • Jarl Paggion, Baron (deceased; 467-502): The father of four, Jarl was always the Lord Baron to Natalia, who doted on Khalani more than any of the daughters, though he loved them equally. Jarl was known as a passionate alchemist and lover of cookies, as well as a reasonably skilled healer.
  • Arissa Winthrop Paggion, Baroness (deceased; 471-497): Arissa was a talented healer, but a commoner, who earned her way into the heart of Jarl Paggion, whom she met at the College of Healing in Amphorae when they attended together. The pair were fast friends and lovers, and when he ascended to the barony in 487, he requested her hand in marriage. Arissa died a few days after the birth of her fourth daughter, having grown sick with the birthing.
    • Khalani Paggion, Baroness (489): The eldest of four daughters, Khalani came into her inheritence at only the age of thirteen.
    • Natalia Paggion, Lady Baronet (493): Second to Khalani in all things--or so it has always seemed--Natalia began 'running' (with copious amounts of help from advisors) the Amphorae Baronial Household by herself at the age of nine, while her sister went to study on Gateway Island.
    • Meliana Paggion, Noble Lady (496): The third of the Paggion daughters, Meliana is an over-curious tomboy who always manages to not be there when it's time for lessons. But for all her fidgeting, Meliana always gives as much as she takes, doing her best to make sure that there is always peace with those she upsets.
    • Shala Paggion, Noble Lady (497): The youngest of the Paggion daughters, Shala's birth was the cause of their mothers' death. Natalia and Khalani have raised Shala more than anyone else.
