Background

Ravelle Anjoli Veritas Soranus was born August 1, 484, to a noble Draughtian family renowned for its strong moral position on many topics. Her days and nights were spent studying the courtly arts and general academics, and it became very clear at a young age that her fascination with people and relationships would make her a natural addition to the Ministry of Scientific Study (MOSS). When her father passed in 504, it left her elder brother, Athar, as the new Baron Ethos, and she arrived in Gateway in early 505 with him to learn more about the general populace, bring more awareness of Providence's love to the people, and to continue her work for MOSS at the Academy.

The Soranus Family is synonymous with morality, and many purists have moved to Ethos over the course of generations because of the baronial family's uncompromising support of Providence and the denouncement of all things tempting and corruptive. Since the Soranus family finally stepped outside their xenophobic upbringing and came to Gateway, the Purist movement has seen a lot of interest and garnered a lot of contempt.

There are many who would see Purism fall beneath the weight of its own ideals, calling out hypocrisies and citing the impossibility of maintaining a life founded in faith before all else. And yet, despite these resistances and the decrying of certain Purist actions, the faith continues to grow through the acquisition of new members, and through the realization of existing members that embracing a child of Providence regardless of their stain is paramount before addressing the darkness consuming them.

Her Death

On January 4, 508, in her university office, she took her life by consuming a dose of Honor's Chase. Her reasons for doing so are not widely known. Some attribute it to a broken heart over Bastien Arx, with whom she enjoyed a high-profile romance up until her political marriage to Parsifal Valens. Some say it was her failed leadership in her brother's absence. Still others wonder if she was just a bad vine amongst the Soranus line and it was inevitable that she be pruned, given her flirtations with darkness and constant struggles to serve the Light. Whatever the reason, she was found by her husband the morning after an infamous Purist meeting, having consumed the poison reserved for Purists who have committed a grievous crime against the Light.
