History

Born the first and only child of Jet and Beryl Montaigu made Tourmaline the eldest niece of Lord Sorcery's Crest.

Tourmaline declined to further her magical career, instead turning her focus on a life as a jeweler. Although her family - Citrine in particular - disapproves, she has flourished, using her stance as a Journeyman Earth Mage to create some truly stunning jewelry pieces. On the Isle of Mists, she runs a highly successful shop in Sorcery's Crest called 'Scintillating Sapphires,' and since her return to Gateway, she's come into ownership of the former All That Glitters (now called Earthly Elegance). In addition, she takes private commissions.

IC Timeline

December 25, 476 - Molly is born. Much rejoicing is to be had by all.

May 505 - Tourmaline arrives on Gateway and purchases the jewelery shop in Crossroads City, renaming it Opulent Opals. She returns to Mists shortly thereafter, leaving her shop to be sold.

February 24, 509 - Tourmaline returns to Gateway after an extended vacation

March, 509 - Tourmaline agrees to manage All That Glitters for Caprice Trillare

June 2, 509 - In a complete surprise to most of those involved, Caprice Trillare offers to sell All That Glitters to Tourmaline. She accepts, and the business deal is heard around the City.

Personality

Molly is an all around pleasant and cheerful person, though she wouldn't be characterized as the bubbly type. She is also a very passionate person, often putting her whole heart into a project or a situation. She has often been described as fiery, feisty, sweet and sure, all of which are accurate definitions of who she can be.

Molly also has a tendency of jumping headfirst into social situations, which can make her seem rather bold at first glance. That is, of course, precisely the impression she wants to give.

With her business, Molly has a rather intuitive sense about what jewels or designs a customer will like, often predicting or selecting them even before said customer does. Making a customer happy by providing them with quality work is her first priority at all times.

Family

	Lazuli Starling, Duchess Regent Mists, Cousin As children, Molly and Lazuli were practically inseparable, as both were practically the same age. They drifted apart in their teenage years, both choosing very different paths to walk in their lives. And though they had been apart for many years, when Molly came back to Gateway, Lazuli was the first person to welcome her back with open arms. To this day, Molly adores Lazuli and considers her akin to a sister rather than a cousin.

	Citrine Montaigu, Steward Midnight Lagoon, Cousin There are two reasons that Molly didn't attend Lazuli and Joseph's wedding. Citrine is one of them (see below for the other). Citrine has been one of the most vocal members of Molly's family who highly disagrees with Molly's choice to become a jeweler. Needless to say, they are rarely seen around one another.

	Dioptase Montaigu, Lord Midnight Lagoon, Great-uncle There are two reasons that Molly didn't attend Lazuli and Joseph's wedding. Great Uncle Dioptase is one of them. That should speak for itself.
	Jet Montaigu, Lord of Midnight Lagoon, Father In public, Molly will maintain that her father is a man of good standing. In private, her opinion is vastly different. It is clear she and her father have no communication or relationship, and have not had one since she decided not to further her magical training.
	Beryl Montaigu, Lady of Sorcery's Crest, Mother Like her father, Molly's mother was not supportive of Molly's decision to go into the jewelry business rather than complete her magical training. Molly's relationship with her mother remains nonexistent.

Friends & Associates

	Caprice Trillare, Merchant Guildmistress Their very first meeting placed Molly as the manager of All That Glitters. A couple months later, and Caprice sold her shop to Molly. The Guildmistress is someone Molly trusts explicitly, and whom she considers a friend. Who knows, maybe the pair of them will eventually take over the world.
	Gaius Ravensford, Merchant As a frequent purchaser of gold from the Ravensford family, Molly knew Gaius in passing. They met again in Gateway and eventually worked out a business deal that would have Molly working exclusively with gold from Dark Waters. The pair are, however, clearly more than just business partners and maintain a friendly, sociable relationship.
	Evelyn Locksley, Former Enemy Turned Associate If first impressions were everything, than Molly and Evelyn would have hated each other for life. But after all the barbs and promises of shop-burnings and back-alley beat downs, the two girls have made amends - at least on the surface. Now the Locksley Family is the exclusive provider of the gems for Molly's store. What the future will bring, no one knows.
	Svoran Beridar Molly and Svoran have had their share of ups and downs, not to mention their share of very public arguments. As of late, however, the two of them are rarely seen around one another.
	Card Usually not much good comes from the words "bitch, I'll burn your shop to the ground." And yet, out of the disagreement, an association has blossomed. Molly has formed an unusual friendship with the Lord Venator and seems to hold at least some respect for him.
